Fieldwork
Fieldworkers provide family support, information, advocacy and education. Regular education and support meetings are a vital part of our mission to provide information about mental illness, treatment options and other mental health services available in our region. These groups provide a support network providing opportunity to share experiences and gain strength to cope with daily living.
Monthly meetings are held at the Dunedin Branch Office every 2nd Thursday and in Baclutha at Clutha Mental Health 3-7 Charlotte Street every 3ird Thursday.
A Men's Support Group is a forum and support/education group designed specifically for the unique issues of men who have a partner/wife with a major mental illness. Because of the sensitive nature of these meetings they are facilitated by a clinical specialist. These are held the 1st Monday of every month (the 2nd Monday if the 1st one is a Holiday).
CUMI (Children Understanding Mental Illness) is an in depth series of workshops designed to provide an age related programme that will educate children about mental illness and give them “life enhancement skills” which enables them to understand the impact of mental illness in their family/whanau environment. CUMI is not intended for children suffering from mental illness themselves.
